Butt Lift

A butt lift, or buttock lift, is an effective way to elevate sagging tissues and improve the contours of your butt with or without increasing the volume of your buttocks.

About Butt Lift Surgery

The Best Butt Lift Candidates

Skin tightening for the buttocks

The best candidates for butt lift surgery are men and women between the ages of 18 and 65 who are mentally and physically healthy, do not smoke and wish to elevate sagging buttocks and improve buttock contours.

A buttock lift is commonly performed in combination with other procedures for body contouring after massive weight loss, as it involves the removal of extra skin and correction of skin laxity that is often present in the lower body after patients have had gastric bypass or lap banding procedures.

Butt Lift Surgery

What to expect during butt lift surgery

Most butt lift procedures take 3-6 hours and are performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with IV sedation. Small incisions are typically made on the hips, the groin and the top of the buttocks. The locations of the incisions are where buttock lift scars will form.

From there, Dr. Motlagh will remove excess skin from the region, then pull up and redrape your skin. Drains may be placed to help reduce fluid collection during recovery but will be removed within a few days of surgery.

Patients who want a butt lift may also have this procedure done in combination with butt augmentation, which involves placement of silicone butt implants or fat grafting to the buttocks. When fat grafting is performed in combination with a butt lift, the procedure is typically referred to as a Brazilian butt lift.

Conversely, patients wishing to reduce the size of their buttocks may also combine butt lift surgery with liposuction. A buttock lift may also be performed in conjunction with a thigh lift as part of a lower body lift in patients who seek body contouring after massive weight loss.

Butt Lift For Men

Male butt lift surgery

Although plastic surgery for the posterior is often regarded as being primarily for women who want to maintain a curvy, youthful figure, butt lift surgery can be extremely rewarding for men as well.

Men who have experienced significant weight loss following bariatric surgery commonly have butt lifts performed, as do men over 40 whose rear-ends have begun to descend ever closer to their thighs.

Butt Lift Recovery

Recovering after your buttock lift

During butt lift recovery, you may not sit or lay on your backside for at least two weeks, and it may take several months for you to do so without discomfort. Also, you should expect to wear a compression garment for about six weeks during the recovery period.

It typically takes 4-6 months to see your final buttock lift results, although most swelling and bruising subsides within one month. If may be anywhere from three weeks to three months before you may resume all unrestricted activity, including vigorous exercise, depending on how quickly your body heals.

Following all pre- and post-operative instructions, especially avoiding a sitting position until instructed to do so, will be instrumental in achieving a great aesthetic outcome after butt lift surgery. It is also imperative that you return to Tyler Plastic Surgery for all follow-up appointments with Dr. Motlagh.

Tyler Plastic Surgery is conveniently located in Eastern Texas and serves not only Tyler butt lift patients but also buttock lift patients from Dallas-Fort Worth to Shreveport, Louisiana and all the cities in between.
